Chris ran a speed game exercise that looked at magnitude of effects for momentum.

We added additional elements to the scenarios and quickly suggested which of the terms were non-zero (and thus useful to calculate). For example, when adding advection to diffusion, we looked at the terms in this scenario:

Chris then provided a primer on normalization (getting a variable range between 0 and 1) so that we could use the concept in the slasher game next class period (using an asterisk after a variable to suggest it's normalized value):

The slasher game next class would look at all our mass, energy, and momentum equation terms and remove terms that have no value or are immaterial in comparison to other terms.

Students worked in teams to write the relevant equations on the board as fast as they could.
