Class on January 18 2018
Class one let students settle in with discussions regarding the course logistics and overview of the course methodologies.
Students asked questions about the software and the process of data analysis and visualization (to support analysis and dissemination).
Rob introduced students to the idea of using Google Sheets for data manipulation and analysis and Python-based Jupyter Notebooks for a coding interface that would often be more efficient once coding skills were obtained.
Rob asked students to install Jupyter Notebooks (via anaconda) and download a plot example in order to get some experience with the tool interface.
Rob pointed students towards a useful Python Data Camp website and encouraged them to show up for class next Tuesday after doing some investigations of their own.
